CRISTIANO RONALDO IN DANGER OF LOSING FIFA WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
It is no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most
hated superstars in the world. In the midst of all this hatred, we just can’t
deny that Cristiano Ronaldo has so many people that love him (millions of
people worldwide).
Cristiano
Ronaldo is always in the spotlight; when he is with his son, when he scores a
goal, when he misses a goal etc. This time around it appears that the
Portuguese man may lose a deserved FIFA World Player of the Year. It looks like
conspiracy may enter into this year’s award. Ronaldo won the UEFA Champions
League with Real Madrid and guess what? He was criticized for not scoring in
the match and was almost anonymous. Ronaldo later scored the deciding penalty
in the penalty shootout and his haters brought up their own theory that Ronaldo
and Real Madrid faced little teams thereby ignoring Ronaldo’s impressive goal
tally of 17.
Then
came the Euros. At the same time South America was hosting a second Copa
America in the space of two years. This gave Lionel Messi and Argentina a
chance to win the Copa America Centenario after losing the previous one to
Chile. Unfortunately for Lionel Messi, he missed in the penalty shootout and
Chile became the champions again doing the double over Argentina which prompted
Messi’s retirement. Ronaldo went ahead and won the Euros but guess what? People
criticized his performances in the Euros.
Everyone
came to the defence of the loved boy Lionel Messi and proceeded to attack
Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo suffered a severe injury in the Euros final against
France and wasn’t at his best in the beginning of the new season. Messi and co
were enjoying themselves, scoring hat-tricks like it was their birthday and
suddenly everyone forgot about all the heroics performed by Cristiano Ronaldo
because he is Cristiano Ronaldo. Then came the haters trying to use their
mouths to give the World player of the year to Messi because they love him
practically forgetting about Antoine Griezmann.
But one
thing about the man Cristiano Ronaldo is that he rises above every obstacle.
This award is meant for him and no one else. He was criticized for missing free
kicks in the Euros but he has now scored wonderful free kicks against Sporting
Lisbon and Atletico Madrid. He proved his haters horribly wrong by banging a
stupendous hat-trick against the unbreakable Atletico Madrid in the last Madrid
derby at the Vicente Calderon which is a very tough place to visit even for
Messi and Barcelona. He was criticized for not turning up in big games but he
turned up real good.
We will
all be here to see the man CR7 become the FIFA World Player of the Year for the
4th time not because of favouritism but because of sheer hard work
and brilliance.
