Carrie Fisher dies, Princess Leia of 'Star Wars'

The American actress has died at age 60 after a heart attack.

Half the world was waiting for news on the evolution of the American actress Carrie Fisher and the outcome has been fatal. The fate has not accompanied Princess Leia of Star Wars, who has died on Tuesday to 60 years after suffering a heart attack on a plane on Friday, the family has confirmed in a statement released by its spokesman, Simon Halls.

"With great regret Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother, Carrie Fisher, passed away at 8:55 am [local time in Los Angeles]." "Fisher was very dear to the world and will be missed. Our whole family appreciates the signs of affection and prayers, "added the actress's daughter.

Fisher was admitted to a medical center in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack last Friday while flying from London to the Californian city. The heart attack occurred minutes before the landing and despite the immediate attention paid to her on the plane, some passengers commented that those who attended her took more than ten minutes to restore their vital signs.

The actress played Princess Leia in four of the films in the saga: A New Hope (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), The Return of the Jedi (1983) and The Awakening of Force (2015). He also makes a cameo in Rogue One, which is in late 2016 on the billboards.

The Hollywood-born Beverly Hills actress, daughter of former stars Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, arrived at the Los Angeles Medical Center last Friday in critical condition and hours later she was transferred from Urgencies to the intensive care unit. According to the portal TMZ has never been aware since the heart attack.

Dave Prowse, the man who embodied Darth Vader, and Billy Dee Williams, the Lando Carlissian of The Empire Strikes Back, expressed their concern for Fisher, and so did Riz Ahmed or Alan Tudyk of the last film in this universe. "Use strength, sweetheart," said Joely Fisher, the actress's step-sister, paraphrasing one of the constants of this saga. Next to Fisher at the hospital are his daughter, actress Billie Lourd, and her companion dog, a French bulldog named Gary Fisher who accompanies her all the time. Both were traveling alongside her on United 935 flight from London when she suffered the heart attack.

Fisher was in London promoting his latest book, The Princess Diarist. Like much of its books, this also is partly autobiographical, based on the newspapers of its beginnings like actress in a saga that threw it to stardom with only 19 years and of which it could never leave. There he was referring to the romance he had with Harrison Ford: "It was so intense ... We were Han and Leia during the week and Carrie and Harrison on the weekends."

She talked openly about her problems with alcohol and drugs

Carrie Fisher went through several personal difficulties throughout her career and, although for many it might be a taboo subject, she talked openly about her problems with alcohol and drugs. "I'm Carrie Fisher and I'm an alcoholic," began her theatrical monologue Wishful Drinking about her bio. The actress suffered an overdose and went through detoxification projects. Those years of excesses coincided with his turbulent marriage relationship with musician Paul Simon after a wedding match with comedian Dan Aykroyd.

Her film star only really shone on the Star Wars titles and in some prestigious films like Hannah and her sisters, Woody Allen, although she participated in numerous titles, in which she even seemed to laugh at herself. However, his memory is part of the collective imagination of an entire generation that discovered the galactic saga and an actress with a strong personality. An indelible memory, as demonstrated by the massive reaction of condolence and regret that has occurred in social networks to know his early death.
