It has been yet another wonderful year in the WWE and with the brand split it has made things even more exciting. RAW as we know is the first brand in the WWE and as such gets all the attention and ratings but with Smackdown LIVE's recent formation, it has given RAW a run for its money.
RAW boasts of a not so exciting but a legendary general manager in Mick Foley and a commissioner in Stephanie McMahon. It also boasts of the Architect Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho and the rest of them. They also possess one of the best female wrestlers in Charlotte and her nemesis Sasha Banks but that's just about it.
RAW has repeatedly bored people to death with consistent appearances from Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho and Seth Rollins with four of them facing each other every time they get a chance on RAW and it appears that they are the only superstars on RAW at the moment and Charlotte and Sasha Banks look like they are the only female wrestlers in the RAW division at the moment.
Sheamus and Cesaro have at least added flavour to the tag team division by staking their claim after defeating the record breakers, THE NEW DAY to grab the RAW Tag Team Championships.
So with all of these, should we really expect a superstar of the year from RAW?
Smackdown LIVE on the other hand has an exciting general manager in the great Daniel Bryan and a charismatic commissioner in Shane McMahon and recently Smackdown LIVE beat raw in ratings just to show you the wonderful effort they've been putting into their jobs.
Smackdown LIVE right now is the land of opportunities and you wouldn't doubt that after seeing someone like The Miz rise to prominence as of late with his Intercontinental Championship with his wife Maryse alongside him. He has made a name for himself with the title and has also put the Intercontinental title on the map.
Bray Wyatt finally got his first championship as the Wyatt Family consisting of Randy Orton, Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt won the Smackdown LIVE Tag Team Championships after which they were dethroned by the ever impressive American Alphas.
The Lone Wolf Baron Corbin was given a title shot in a triple threat match which included him, Dolph Ziggler and the WWE World Champion, the Phenomenal AJ Styles.
That brings me to AJ Styles, the man who had one of the best rookie years ever in the history of the WWE. Certainly he'd be my pick for the Superstar of the year. Since stepping into the WWE, AJ Styles hasn't done bad at all. He has been growing from glory to glory ever since.
That begs the definite question, Should AJ Styles be the superstar of the year?
Of course. So many WWE fans would want that to be so. I would want that to be so. Every match he has had has been phenomenal starting from Chris Jericho down to the triple threat match with Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin. He has done it everywhere he has been even in TNA Impact Wrestling. AJ Styles is what you call a living legend but he's just a rookie in WWE. Its just a matter of time before he becomes a legend.
