CRISTIANO RONALDO WINS FOURTH BALLON D'OR

Cristiano Ronaldo recently capped off a brilliant year by picking up the Ballon d'Or for a fourth time in Paris on Monday night although the player was absent due to his commitments in the FIFA Club World Cup that is currently going on in Japan.

The Portugal and Real Madrid forward won the poll made up of 173 journalists worldwide to take home France Football Magazine's coveted award. In doing so he beat the likes of Lionel Messi of Barcelona, Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid and Luis Suarez of Barcelona who finished second, third and fourth respectively.

Neymar was in a surprised fifth position after failing yet again to capture the Ballon d'Or and it begs the question, what should he do to win it? He has been constantly overshadowed by fellow teammate Lionel Messi and now Luis Suarez has gone above him.

Ronaldo wins his 4th Ballon d'Or

Ronaldo is now within one of Messi's record five Ballon d'Or wins which Messi would like to guard jealously.

Ronaldo has had a stellar 12 months in which he won the Euros, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup. He has now moved clear of three-time winners Marco van Basten, Michel Platini and the late Johan Cruyff.

The 31-year-old described his latest triumph as "a dream come true", saying he never believed he would win a fourth Ballon d'Or and we presume that it is down to Messi's stranglehold on the award.

If you can still remember the last time we spoke of this subject. Check it out at http://sarafinaj.blogspot.com/2016/11/cristiano-ronaldo-in-danger-of-losing.html
